Have you had a color analysis done? I have! I’m a soft autumn like queen Hailey Bieber, and while knowing this hasn’t necessarily changed my life, it definitely helps me pick out gorgeous wedding guest dresses. That’s all we can hope for sometimes.
The thing about color analysis, though: it’s not super accessible. Every so often, you’ll come across someone who’s really skilled at it and wants to practice for cheap, otherwise you’re likely shilling out a good amount of money to get a reading. You can’t just search “what are my colors” and expect an accurate response. Until… now?
On June 20 (that’s the first day of summer, for all you future summers out there), e.l.f. is joining forces with Pinterest to make personalized color analysis free for all. They’re calling their custom pin extension “color e.l.f.nalysis,” and it’ll help you find your colors alongside corresponding makeup products.
About Color e.l.f.nalysis
Much of what we see—and decide to save—on our Pinterest feeds is based on color. The company invests in color forecasting constantly, and noticed that searches for “color analysis test” have risen 22x as of late. Meanwhile, e.l.f. Cosmetics is in the color business. Do you see why they work so well together?
“‘Color e.l.f.nalysis’ is about breaking down beauty barriers and making personalized color analysis accessible to every eye, lip, and face—for free,” said Patrick O’Keefe, Chief Integrated Marketing Communications Officer at e.l.f. Beauty. “This tool, developed with Pinterest and in collaboration with real-life color experts, complements—not replaces—the human touch. It’s a smart, seamless, and fun way for our community to discover what works for them—and find their perfect e.l.f. product matches in just a few taps.”
How It Works

The custom AI tool works by grabbing your selfie (you can take one in the app or use your favorite from your camera roll if the lighting is better), scanning it, and reading you in the nicest way possible. As the AI does its thing, it’ll find your hue (warm or cool), value (light or deep contrast), and chroma (bright or muted), reveal your color season, and share your ideal e.l.f. products via a custom Pinterest board.
When I tried it, I got—wait for it—soft autumn. And a fun lipstick recommendation: O Face Satin Lipstick in the medium caramel brown shade “Limitless.”
So, what are you? Fellow soft autumns, welcome to the team. It’s a nice place to be, with jewel tones galore.
